Mike Edwards, 30, was diagnosed with cancer last year, which had started as a mild cough that wouldn’t go away.

At the time Mike, who is from Satlney near Chester, was told his symptoms were heartburn and indigestion, and he was given Gaviscon tablets which appeared to help his symptoms subside.

But he then started to experience difficulties swallowing and was later diagnosed with a cancer called adenocarcinoma in his oesophagus, reports the Liverpool Echo.

He was referred to Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, where the results of further scans confirmed the cancer had also spread to his lymph nodes, stomach and spine. It was here Mike was given the devastating news that the cancer was terminal and he could have just 12 months left to live.
